Sauna Tracker Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Sauna Tracker is a watchOS app with an iOS companion app developed by Jose Valle / Valle Systems. It helps you track sauna sessions using heart rate monitoring and estimated calorie calculations.

Sauna Tracker is designed to be privacy-first: it has no backend servers, does not create user accounts, and does not transmit your data off your device.

2. Information We Collect

Sauna Tracker only accesses data you choose to share through Apple Health (HealthKit). We do not collect contact details, location, photos, advertising identifiers, or any other personal information outside of HealthKit.

HealthKit data types we access (and why)

• Heart rate - Used in real time during a sauna session to display your current heart rate and build session stats.
• Age - Used to improve calorie estimate calculations.
• Weight - Used to improve calorie estimate calculations.
• Biological sex - Used to improve calorie estimate calculations.
• Workout data - Used to save your sauna sessions to Apple Health as workouts (if you choose to enable saving).

You can control exactly which HealthKit data types Sauna Tracker can access at any time. If you do not grant a permission, Sauna Tracker will not access that data type.

3. How We Use Your Information

Sauna Tracker uses HealthKit data only to provide core app functionality, including:

• Session tracking - Showing session duration and real-time heart rate during your sauna session.
• Calorie estimates - Estimating calories using heart rate and basic profile data (age, weight, biological sex) when available.
• Statistics display - Showing summaries of your sessions (for example, trends over time) on your devices.
• Health app integration - Saving sessions to Apple Health as workouts when you opt in.

4. Data Storage and Security

Sauna Tracker stores data locally on your device only. We do not operate any servers for Sauna Tracker, so there is no server-side storage of your data.

Data retention: Sauna Tracker retains your data on your device until you delete the app and/or delete saved workouts from Apple Health (depending on what you chose to save).

• No data transmission - Sauna Tracker does not send your HealthKit data to us or to any third parties.
• No cloud syncing - Sauna Tracker does not provide any cloud storage or syncing. (If you enable iCloud for Apple Health, Apple may sync your Health data across devices based on your Apple settings. Sauna Tracker does not control that.)
• No analytics or tracking - We do not use analytics SDKs, tracking pixels, or advertising frameworks in Sauna Tracker.
• No advertising - Sauna Tracker does not show ads.

5. Data Sharing

Sauna Tracker does not share your data with anyone. Specifically, we do not sell, rent, trade, or transfer your HealthKit data (or any other data) to third parties.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You are in control of your data. You can:

• Remove app data - Delete the Sauna Tracker app from your iPhone and Apple Watch to remove app-stored data.
• Revoke HealthKit permissions - Go to iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Health, then disable Sauna Tracker's permissions.
• Delete saved sessions - If you save sauna sessions to Apple Health, you can delete individual workouts in the Apple Health app.

All deletion actions are immediate and permanent on your device. Because Sauna Tracker does not store your data on servers, we cannot recover deleted data.

7. Children's Privacy

Sauna Tracker is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided data to Sauna Tracker through Apple Health, you can remove access and delete the data using the steps in the section above.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we change this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and post the new version here. If the changes are significant, we will provide an additional notice in the app or on our website.
